Me and my best friend Miranda

I am a biomedical sciences major and preparing to apply to pharmacy school this summer. I am a senior graduating in fall 2020 and am excited to continue my education toward becoming a pharmacist. I have been interested in the sciences for as long as I can remember.

Growing up in Tennessee, there were a lot of unique bugs, spiders, and snakes to study, and I started a large bug collection with my mom. When I got my first microscope at around 5 years old, I was so excited, and it furthered my interest in the biological aspects of the world around me. My mom fully supported my interests, and when we trapped 2 brown recluses in our garage inside a jar, she was ready for an experiment. We sealed the jar and set it out in the sun and after about a week, 1 of the spiders ate the other to survive.

Indy

Nowadays, I leave the bug and animal catching to my cats Django and Indy. Indy likes to make "friends" and play with the chipmunks, though she sometimes brings them inside to play. So in our living room, we have a dedicated chipmunk-catching net. It would be easier to just close the doors, but I think my mom likes the excitement.

Django

Django on the other hand is a hunter. One of his favorite activities in the spring and summer is catching and killing the wild bunnies around our house. He does not bring them as gifts to the door, but instead he usually sits in the yard and eats their heads. Yes, only the heads. Though I love my cats and am definitely a crazy cat lady, that is one of his less endearing habits.
