I am a happily married father of three with a PhD in Geosciences currently residing in the United States. Though lacking musical ability, I have a deep affection for music and spend an unseemly amount of my disposable income on vinyl records, especially on recordings by Jamaican artists from the 1970s and 1980s.

What brings me here?

As a reader and donor to wikipedia for many years, I never gave any thought to participating until one day I spotted a curiosity while combing through references. On a whim decided to open my big mouth and now I'm thinking of sticking around and becoming more active.

Newbie alert

I have learned quite a bit in the last couple of months as far as WP policy, formatting, and general etiquette goes but am still figuring out how things work behind the curtain so please don't hesitate to bring attention to my many inevitable missteps. I am happy to correct them.
