Seven Days of Opening Nights is Florida State University's premiere annual performing-arts festival that takes place each February and spotlights FSU's commitment to the arts — music, theatre, dance, visual art, film and literature. The festival began in 1999 under FSU President Sandy D’Alemberte and soon became an annual can't-miss community attraction. Events are held in FSU's Ruby Diamond Concert Hall; other on-campus venues such as the Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre, Opperman Music Hall, Museum of Fine Art and Student Life Cinema; and off-campus venues such as Tallahassee Community College’s Turner Auditorium, Florida A&M University’s Lee Hall, Pebble Hill Plantation and the Tallahassee Museum of Natural History. Education is a key element of the festival, and the majority of the artists who perform also spend time advising FSU students in master's-level classes. Students and faculty often perform onstage with the artists, as well.
