While the article mostly presents content that is relevant to the topic, it appears to focus primarily more on embryonic neurogenesis rather than adult neurogenesis, as the subsections discussing adult neurogenesis are quite brief and lacking multiple sources discussing the same topics. One of the things that could be improved most in this article is the use of multiple sources discussing the same topic, rather than selectively using one source for an entire section alone. In addition, the discussion of epigenetic misregulation and neurological disorders mentions multiple disorders, however only goes into further detail regarding one of them. The sources themselves also appear to be slightly outdated, and could be strengthened by the addition of newer, more relevant sources. The article is considered "start-class" in quality, and as such could be improved in more ways than outlined here.

From first read, the article appears to present mostly relevant information regarding the epigenetic effects on schizophrenia. However, it appears that the subtopics the article discusses are rather brief and lacking multiple sources to back up the same claims. Notably, the 'genetics' and 'research methods' subtopics are very brief, and include seemingly random information to an outside reader without providing any context for the inclusion of the information. In addition, the research methods section does not go into great detail regarding all of the possible research methods available, and this subsection, along with others, appear to only be backed by one source rather than by a consensus of sources. The article itself also has a start-class rating for the genetics WikiProject as well as a C rating for the neuroscience WikiProject, suggesting that multiple changes to the structure and content of the article itself could be made to improve it further.

The lead section of this article appears to be rather dense, and seems to discuss details of the topic that should be included in other sections of the article, which would assist in making the section easier to follow. Furthermore, the topics of 'effects on cancer' and 'effects on aging' are missing from the lead section altogether, however discussed in detail in the following sections of the article. The organization of the article itself appears to be rather scattered, with no real flow to the article, and rather is presented as a list of relevant information, seeing as it appears to discuss topics out of the proper order. In addition, it appears that the article discusses certain topics much more than others, and some of the topics, including the lead section, are supported by only one source rather than multiple sources providing the same information. This, coupled with the majority of the sources included are older than 2014 could indicate that the information in the article could be outdated, or at least strengthened by newer publications. The article's talk page rates the article as being start-class quality, suggesting that many improvements could be made apart from those mentioned here to improve the quality of the article.
