Los Tucanes de Tijuana

Los Tucanes de Tijuana are a well know famous Mexican music group, who sing about Narcocorridos, cumbias, Norteñas, and romantic. It all started with a dream that they fallowed and were able to accomplish it. Los Tucanes de Tijuana are good at what they do especially Mario Quintero who writes all the songs for the group. They have sold over thirty-one successful CDs. So far, they have accomplished a lot in their career.

Los Tucanes de Tijuana are a well know famous Mexican music group, who sing about money, sex, violence, drugs and more. It's a music group who was established a April 13, 1987. All the members are from Sinaloa and they were good friends. They each left different days but they all got together at the most visited city in Mexico which was Tijuana. All of them went to Tijuana to look for that famous dream of making it big in the music industry. One of the members had family in Tijuana and they were in the music group as well. That group was called Los Incoparables de Tijuana. They were the ones who gave some of the instruments to the Tucanes de Tijuana. Their name came about when they did their first appearance on April 13, 1987 at the Bar Razzas Club en Tijuana, B.C and one cousin of the members gave them that name. Because of their creativity and their genre of music that they played has slowly but surely given them an image which has helped them get recognized. Since 1995, they have been well know Latino artist of mayor influences and impact internationally. Their songs of love, cumbias and corridos have played a crucial part of their success which has taken them to the top.

The only mexican musis group has come in the main page of Los Ángeles Times, San Diego Tribune, News Week, U.S. Week, People, New York Times y Diario Reforma de la Republica Mexicana.

Won for time platinum disc for having sold 2.5 million Cd's in the United States which were Mundo de Amor , 14 Tucanazos Bien Pesados, Tucanes de Oro and Tucanes de Plata.

1994- Los Tucanes de Tijuana were recognized by the Martin Fabian Perez in Guadalajara Jalisco: El Nuevo Sentimiento Norteño, El Grupo que le cambio el rumbo a la Música Norteña.

1995 and July of 1997 - The only Norteno music group who has the record of selling 5.5 million Cd's in Mexico and in the United States.

1999 -June 20. The only Mexican music group in history that were able to put 4 songs have been nominated and won at the BMI en Miami.

1999 -They were recognized by the president of Chinantla Puebla when they went to play over their.

1999 -They received the key to the city of Oxnard, CA given to them by the mayor.

1999 -The only Norteno Mexican group whose music has been sold in Europe and all of North and South America.

1999 -The only Mexican Music Group who has receive a golden disc from Chile.

2000 December 3 -They were awarded by the mayor for giving the best concert that the Fair of Tuxtla Gutiérrez Chiapas has seen

2001 March 27 - Recieved and award form the city of los angeles for their talent and contrubutions to the city.

Were recognized for participating in helping and encouraging the Spanish community to vote.

2001 September 2-The Los Angeles Dodgers got Los Tucanes De Tijuana to play before the game and to throw the first ball of the game, in front of 54,000 spectators. The event was called “Viva Los Dodgers”.

2002 February- They were the only Mexican music group who attended the Miami Carnival and played at the American Airlines Arena.

2002 July- They were in first place in the Billboard standings with the song Jugo A La Vida.

2003 April 27 -Received the key to the city of Los Angeles California.

2003 May- They were invited to perform at the Billboard[7] awards in Miami, FL.

2003 November-Mario Quintero produced two songs to sing with Lucia Mendez. The songs were called Almas Gemelas and La Pareja Dispareja.

2003 December- They land a contract with Coors Light.

2003 December-They signed a contract with Stetson Hat Co. the biggest company of sombreros in the world.

2004 April- Universal Music gave them a golden disc for high sells of the CD: Imperio.

2004 September- They resigned with Universal Music Latino.

2004 December- They resigned their contract with Coors Light for one more year.

2004 December- They resigned with Stetson Hat Co. for three more years.

2007 January -They reached 1st placed on Billboard/SoundScan-Regional Mexicano within the 1st week of the CD,El Papa De Los Pollitos, being out.

2007 June- Celebrated their 20 anniversary with a big concert at the Gibson Amphitheatre de Los Angeles, California were important people from the radio, television and the press. Don't forget their fans.

2008 September- Sr. Ruben J. Kihuen a democrat who is in charge of district 11 established September 11 as an official day of Los Tucanes de Tijuana in Las Vegas, Neveda.

2008 September 11-The senator of the United States, John Ensign gave them an award of recognition to the "Tucanes de Tijuana" and were congratulated for being in the Las Vegas Walk of Fame.

2008 September 16-The city of Los Angeles awarded them with a award and were invited to participate in the grito de Independencia.
