Education B.E. Mechanical Engineering, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (Y.C.C.E.), Nagpur.

Projects Ornithopter Design: Ornithopter, a flying machine, which flies by flapping wings like birds. The design of the wing for flapping and the mechanism for the same were the main emphasis of the project. (Final Year B.E. Project)

Glider: Constructed a Glider with a span of 5’ and aspect ratio of 10 for the ‘Chuck Glider Competition’ at Techfest’05 and fitted it with a mechanism for folding the wings along two axes so as to avoid the loop problem during launch. (Jan ’05)

Water Rocket: Manufactured a rocket using a 2 lit. PET bottle with pressurized air and water as propellant having a flying range of around 200 ft, which is at par with World Standards. Also employed a Parachute Recovery System. This rocket recorded the highest flight time (as was required) in the Water Rockets competition at Techfest ’04. (Jan ’04)

PVC Water Rocket: Constructed a Water Rocket using PVC pipes with parachute recovery. Successfully applied a system for different nozzle diameters for water and air thrust phases. (Jan ’04)

Solid Rocket Motor: Constructed an amateur solid rocket motor which uses a propellant comprising Potassium Nitrate and Sucrose. Prepared a plan for a PVC rocket body and also designed a Parachute Recovery System. (May-June ’03)

Ball Shooting Robot: Designed a robot to pick three TT balls at a time and shoot with precision any inline target in the range of 3 m. The major challenge was to accommodate all the mechanisms in a 30 cm cube. The machine won the Special Prize for Design at Yantriki - IITB Techfest’04. (Dec-Jan ’04)

Bicycle Design: Designed a bicycle with modified paddle position so as to make cycling more comfortable. Modeled it on Pro/E as a part of a World level Modeling Competition by Parametric Technologies Corporation (Mar ’04).

Airfoil Program: Developed a program in C for plotting NACA 4 Series airfoils (Mar ’03).

Line Following Robot: Constructed a white line following robot using AVR microcontroller.(Jan 06).

Controller for Airship: Currently working on project titled “Dynamic Neural Networks for Non-linear control of Airship and its Hardware Implementation” at the Aerospace Engineering Dept, IIT Bombay.Implementing the Neural Network algorithm with the Microcontroller and intergfacing the various sensors are my responsibilities in the project. (Sep ’05 – present)


Paper Presented

• Presented a paper on ‘Bird Flight Mechanics’ as a part of curriculum in 6th Semester. • Presented a Poster on “Study of Flapping flight through Design and Fabrication of Ornithopter” in CATIO-05 organised by AeSI in Dec 05

Participation/ recognition in Competitions/Events

• Won Special Prize for Design of a Robot at Yantriki - IITB Techfest ’04. • Reached the Finals of the Water Rockets competition at IITB Techfest ’04. • Stood first in the School at SSC level. • Member of the team for the Demostration of Airshipsin the Sixth Gear Competion at Techfest’06. • Member of the oranising team responsible for the IIT Bombay exhibits of its Research Activities during the Science Expo-2005 held at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai.

Underwent a 3 week Industrial Training at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Nasik in June ’04.
