Dream is a 20m tall sculpture created by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa on the Sutton Manor site on the edge of St Helens, Merseyside. The artwork itself was commissioned by St Helen's council in partnership with Arts Council England and the Art Fund. It is also supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, the European Regional Development Fund, the Forestry Commission, the St.Helens Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, and the Northwest Coalfield Communities Regeneration Programme.

Sutton Manor, situated next to the M62 motorway, is an ex-colliery that played a pivotal role in Britain's coal industry and the industrial past of the North West. The sculpture of a 12 year old's head in profile with her eyes closed in reflection is meant to symbolise the vision of the area as it looks to it's future regeneration. The circular plinth on which it is set replicates the miners identity tags that were carried by the workers. The sculpture is fabricated in pre-cast concrete, with a white, almost luminescent finish of white marble and concrete aggregate, in marked contrast to the black of the coal that still lies below.

The public art project was proposed and driven forward by ex-miners, with the support of the local community, and was feature as part of Channel 4's Big Art Project. Dream has also been nominated for the Marsh Sculpture Prize, the results of which will be announced later in 2009.
