William Semple (19 January 1896 - 14 March 1964) was a Scottish painter and bootmaker.[1][2]

Life

His father was James Semple (10 June 1866 - 27 July 1950), a dairyman and bread merchant from Dunlop in Ayrshire.

His mother was Maria Wilson Begg (9 February 1866 - 24 January 1960) from Carmunnock in Glasgow. They married on 11 August 1892 in East Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire.

William Semple was born on 19 January 1896 in 27 Watt Street, Kinning Park, Glasgow at 8:40 pm.

He married Mary Campbell Smellie. They married in Blythswood, Glasgow in 1934.

Death

He died on 14 March 1964 in Glasgow. He died of rectum cancer in the Western Infirmary.[7]
