Robert Brydall (10 May 1839 - 6 April 1907) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

His father was Robert Wilson Brydall (born 9 July 1815) from Glasgow.

His mother was Janet Henderson. Robert Wilson Brydall and Janet married on 20 April 1838 in Glasgow.

Robert Brydall was born on 10 May 1839 in Glasgow.[2]

He married the artist Marion Laurie Greenlees (10 December 1839 - 17 April 1912), the daughter of Robert Greenlees, the headmaster of the Glasgow School of Art. The marriage took place on 2 July 1867 in Glasgow.

He died on 6 April 1907 in Middlesex, England.

Mr. Robert Brydall, a well-known Glasgow artist, died in London on Saturday after a long illness. He born in Glasgow nearly seventy years ago. Besides being an artist of note, Mr. Brydall was well versed in antiquarian subjects, an authority on heraldry, armour, and many other branches of knowledge. He was the author of history of art in Scotland, and contributed frequently the transactions the Society of Antiquaries Scotland.
