William Aloysius Donnelly (28 September 1846 - 30 December 1905) was a Scottish painter.[1]

Life[edit]

His father was William Donnelly [Snr] (born c. 1831) from Ireland.

His mother was Elizabeth Trainor (born c. 1828) from Dumbarton. William [Snr] and Elizabeth married on 24 July 1846 in Old Kilpatrick, West Dunbartonshire.

William Aloysius Donnelly was born on 28 September 1846 in Milton, West Dunbartonshire.[2] He was baptised on 4 October 1846.

He married Helen Wilson Haggart (c. 1866 - 13 February 1953) in St. Rollox on 11 May 1885 at the St. Mungo's Roman Catholic church of Glasgow by the Rev. Father Fernando Saavedra. Helen was the youngest daughter of William Haggart of Milton, West Dunbartonshire. She was born in Leslie in Fife.[4]
