Charles William Hemingway (4 May 1909 - 5 June 1976) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

His father was George Hemingway (c. 1874 - 28 September 1944), a postman from Water Street, Strichen, Aberdeenshire. He was appointed a postman in June 1900. When he retired in 1934, a grateful village held a presentation for him. He was given two armchairs.[3]

His mother was Christian Ann Rose Duncan (c. 1878 - 1923), daughter of George Duncan of Lawcairn, New Pitsligo. George and Christian married on 24 January 1903 in the Cafe Royal, St. Nicholas parish, Aberdeen.[4]

Charles William Hemingway was born at 7 Water Street, Strichen on 4 May 1909 at 3:50pm.

Death

He died on 5 June 1976 at 2 Wellbrae Terrace, Aberdeen. The funeral was on 9 June at Aberdeen Crematorium, West Chapel.[8]
