James Kirk (2 May 1812 - 17 October 1882) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was Daniel Kirk (13 December 1789 - 10 January 1874), a farmer of around 250 acres, originally from Cummertrees in Dumfriesshire.
His mother was Margaret Telfer (3 March 1789 - 4 December 1870) from Kirkpatrick-Juxta. Daniel and Margaret married in the parish of Morton, Dumfriesshire on 23 December 1818.
James Kirk was born on 2 May 1812 in Gateside, Wamphray, Dumfriesshire. He was baptised on 14 May 1812.[3]

[edit]He died on 17 October 1882 in Kensington, London, England.[7] He died at his home in 89 Westbourne Park Villas, Bayswater.[8]
