Samuel Mackenzie (28 December 1785 - 20 January 1847) was a Scottish painter and stonemason.[1][2]

His father was William Mackenzie (1732 - 1793). William was baptised in Inverness on 25 May 1732.
His mother was Ann McVicar (born c. 1742). William and Ann married in the Dunoon and Kilmun parish in Argyll on 25 December 1762.
Samuel Mackenzie was born on 28 December 1785 in Kilmuir in Easter Ross. He was baptised on 31 December 1785 in Kilmuir.
He married Elizabeth Richardson (born c. 1797) from Wooler, Northumberland, England. They married on 23 June 1815 in Edinburgh.

[edit]He died on 20 January 1847. The cemetery register states asthma as the cause of death.[3]
He was buried on 24 January 1847 in Edinburgh's Warriston cemetery.
