John McNairn (26 September 1910 - 22 August 2009) was a Scottish painter and art teacher.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was John McNairn [Snr] (5 February 1881 - 13 November 1946), an artist and newspaper publisher of the Hawick News newspaper.
His mother was Joan Milligan (c. 1880 - 1961). John [Snr] and Joan married in Hawick in 1909.
John McNairn was born at 7 Ettrick Terrace, Hawick on 26 September 1910.[3]
He married Stella Elizabeth Gibson (c. 1922 - 2007) of East Brucefield, Bellsquarry, Midlothian. They married in Edinburgh on 14 December 1947.[4]
They then settled in Selkirk.
Their daughter Caroline McNairn also became an artist.

[edit]He died on 22 August 2009 at St. Johns Rest Home, Melrose.
