A number of invasive plant species have emerged over the short history of human settlement of New Zealand.

History

Arrival of Maori

The Maori people arrived in New Zealand in the 13th century, making the country one of the last landmasses to be populated. They beought with them a small number of plants that were used as food crops.

European settlement

With the arrival of European settlers there was a flood of plants introduce from other countries. (mainly Europe i think....)
