Dr Albert P’Rayan

Dr Albert P’Rayan, an English Language Teaching (ELT) resource person, has over 18 years of teaching experience. He has taught ESP (English for Specific Purposes) and EAP (English for Academic Purposes) courses in India and abroad. He was on the staff of the department of English at the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, Rwanda, East Africa for five years and was the head of the department for three years. Currently he is Associate Professor of English and Head of the Higher Education Cell at KCG College of Technology, Chennai. He had his education in top institutes: St Joseph’s College, Tiruchi and Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL), Hyderabad. He has also taken online courses on ELT at the University of Maryland and the University of Oregon, USA.

As an ELT resource person, Dr Albert P’Rayan has conducted over 50 ELT workshops and has trained over 3000 teachers in the southern states of India. He has also delivered keynote addresses in UGC-sponsored national conferences and workshops and presented papers in international and national seminars.

He is also a freelance journalist and writer. He has been contributing a popular weekly column 'English Matters' (now called ‘English Blues’) to Education Express, a higher education supplement with The New Indian Express, since May 2006. He was the editor of the British Council’s English Language Teaching Contacts Scheme (ELTeCS) - India and Sri Lanka bulletin for over five years from February 2008 to September 2013.

His areas of interest include teacher training, teacher education, English course design, and English for Specific Purposes.
