Option 1
[edit]- Article title
- Distress hand signal
- Article Evaluation
- There is little to no introduction. There is no lead to the articles it discusses. EVerything is just thrown in. This articles opening examples do well to explainng the topic, it is just not very orderly. I would lessen the segemnt regarding Covid-19 and Tik Tok. The key points only regard the CWF and their handsignals.
I think a history segemnt would do good to support all of that exxtra feedback on Tik TOk and oid-29. Most of the article has do do with the CWF hand signal. This feels like a CWF advertiseent with a strange attition about the sea and aviation.
- Sources
- yes the sources do reflect what the article defines. All of the links work. The sources are current, the oldest source is from 1984. There could be better articles to sight that news articles.
Ceballos, M. (2021). Violence at home signal for help: A quantitative study evaluating emergency room registered Nurse’s knowledge in the support for domestic violence victims (Order No. 28491012). Available from ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global. (2583435060).
Option 2
[edit]- Article title
- complaining
- Article Evaluation
- the "american proberb" paragraph is unessisary. the tone is very nutral. viewpoints are well blananced. content is up to date. The lead section is nicely done and organize.
- Sources
- the sources links all work and are credible sources from 2022. There are two sources from 1992 that are still quite credible. There seems to be no reoccuring author and there are a well balanced amount of sources.
Alicke, M. D., Braun, J. C., Glor, J. E., Klotz, M. L., Magee, J., Sederhoim, H., & Siegel, R. (1992). Complaining Behavior in Social Interaction. Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, 18(3), 286–295. the source above would make a great addition by involving a study about college students and adding in statistics.
Option 3
[edit]- Article title
- meta emotion
- Article Evaluation
- this article is well organized and has the best amount of sources and main points. Using Gottman's research for the article really brings him out, he is the person who coined the term. Because of this it is heavy relied on his reaserch. I do not know if this counts as unbalanced.
- Sources
- this article has an abundance ofcredible resources. All of them are still farily new. Most of them have a bias by these authors, Gottman, John Mordechai; Katz, Lynn Fainsilber; Hooven, Carole".
Option 4
[edit]- Article title
- discrete emotion theory
- Article Evaluation
- the lead has a concise and clear article topic. It gives a brief discription of what to expect in the articles below. It is not overly detailed. The article is relevent to date but the sources are dated and adresses the history of discrete emotion theory.
- Sources
- these sources are out of date with the oldest from 1884.
Option 5
[edit]- Article title
- bias-free communication
- Article Evaluation
- the lead is clear. the tone is nutral. It goes into decribing bias and does a good job to not pick a side. there should be more works cited in the "practicing bias-free communication" since it is giving an argeument/ advice style text.
- Sources
- the articles are up to date. all are academic journals.
