I'm Alex, I live in Surrey in the UK and I have a number of interests including food and cooking, languages, photography, cars and motorcycles, aviation, science and technology, computing, and languages of the world.

I've spent my entire professional career starting in 1995 working with UNIX and Linux systems, Initially IBM RS/6000 running AIX, then later HP9000 running HP-UX and then Sun Microsystems (later Oracle) running Solaris. In 2010 I started working with Linux systems, initially SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and later Red Hat Enterprise Linux and its clones. My focus of interest has been data storage and clustering technologies.
