Alfred J Del Rey, (A J) is a lawyer born in New York, who co-founded the international immigration law firm Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP. The practice, while originally organized in 1951 by Elmer Fried, was developed into a firm in 1971 by Elmer Fried, Austin Fragomen, and A J Del Rey. Fried died in 1979 and Fragomen and Del Rey carried on and expanded and diversified the practice over the succeeding decades. The firm now has 35 offices around the world, with 300 lawyers, and more than 1000 employees. Its mandate is limited to US and foreign immigration matters and closely related areas of law. Del Rey served the firm as Senior Partner until 2004. At that time he was appointed Senior Counsel and currently is active in that capacity.
