One of the ways that Europe is trying to be eco-friendly is by applying eco-labels to certain products. For instance, studies have shown that there's a connection between eco-labels and seafood products. According to Ecological Economics, "Our results show a significant connection between the desire for eco-labeling and seafood features, especially the freshness of the fish, the geographical origin of the fish and the wild vs farmed origin of the fish."[1] This study shows that Europeans tend to purchase seafood products when there's an eco-label on it that states the freshness, origin, and other information.
