Early years

Originally from Kashmir, Vibha was born in her ancestral home in Fateh Kadal, Srinagar, Kashmir.[1] and grew up in Delhi after the Kashmiri Pandit exodus in 1990s. Vibha Saraf started singing when she was four, and did her first show when she was eight.[2] She learnt Hindustani classical for 4 years from Bhartiya Kala Kendra and subsequently took 5 years of training in mainstream music.[2]

Career

Vibha's first single was a Kashmiri folk song Harmokh Bartal.[2] She got her breakthrough in film music with the song Dilbaro in the movie Raazi[1], which has elements of the Kashmiri song Khanmaej Koor[3]

Vibha Saraf has collaborated with artists such as Nucleya as a composer, singer & lyricist on songs such as Dhoop and Bekha (film highjack). She also lent voice to his song 'Lori' (nucleya) for his latest album. She is the first one to have brought a kashmiri song (lyrics/singing) into a telugu film (24kisses) and made her Tollywood debut with the song "Aksharaalu" for the same feature 2018.

She has collaborated with artists like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy in Raazi [2] & Dub Sharma for her song in Gully Boy.

Vibha has sung recorded over 240 jingles [4] for more than a 100 brands for their advertising campaigns in over 14 languages- Gujarati, marathi, bengali, telugu, kannada, malayalam, tamil, oriya, assamese, punjabi, bhojpuri, nepali, telugu apart from kashmiri, hindi, english.

Style of Music

Vibha has always been passionate about music in general, and kashmiri folk music in particular, and its relevance to create dilaogues. She also performed at the prestigious Jodhpur RIFF 2018, Udaipur World Folk Festival 2019 and recently with NUCLEYA for their recent collaboration LORI at the sunburn.

Her folk collaborations such as Sahibo for 'Warmest place on earth' campaign saw her being felicitated by CM of Kashmir (2017).
