[edit]In 2021 ten Cuban migrants were lost at sea after departing from the Port of Mariel in Cuba.[1] When there is calm weather in the Gulf of Mexico, there is an increase in Cuban migrants[1]. People who travel by sea to enter a country sometimes use handmade or old vessels to cross the Gulf of Mexico.[2]
