[edit]Juneteenth marked a shift towards freedom, citizenship, and suffrage for black men, but black women still had to fight "to not only to be recognized as humans, but also as women and citizens". Black suffragists such as Sojourner Truth, Frances Harper, and Ida B. Wells would continue to march, form clubs, and fundraise to support their goals.[1]
