Bombay Chartered Accountants' Society


Bombay Chartered Accountants' Society ('BCAS') is India's largest and oldest voluntary society of Chartered Accountants. Founded in 1949, BCAS today has grown into a pan-India not-for-profit body having 10,000+ members across 400 cities and towns in India. The society operates through volunteers who hold themselves to high standards of ethics and professionalism. BCAS activities revolve around professional development for its members alongwith advocacy for the accounting and tax profession in India. Each year more than 150 training programs and events are conducted across multiple event formats including long-duration courses and residential refresher courses.


The name Bombay relates to the province of Bombay, which back in 1949, comprised on present day Maharashtra and Gujarat. The society takes pride in its rich heritage and legacy over almost 75 years.


Current Leaders

The society is headed by a President who is ably assisted by a Vice President, two secretaries and one treasurer. Each of these office bearers operate in a honorary capacity. Current Presidency is held by CA. Abhay Mehta.

The cadre of BCAS comprises of 10 committees that operate across various disciplines of an accounting practice.

Membership

A large part of BCAS members are life-members who remain associated with the society throughout their professional journey. Only qualified Chartered Accountants can become members of BCAS. Members get an option to choose between life membership, annual membership and journal membership.

Journal

The BCA Journal is a monthly mouth-piece of the BCAS that has been in continuous publication since more than 50 years. A leading thought-leader in the accounting landscape in India, the BCA Journal has helped shape public opinion on various issues affecting the profession.

BCAS Chowk

BCAS operates from down-town Mumbai location through its owned premises in Marine Lines area. The road leading to the BCAS office has been christened as 'BCAS Chowk' by the state government in honor of the accomplishments of BCAS over decades.
