Assigned Work (Due: March 2)

[edit]

Assignment details: After assigning an article to yourself, answer the following four questions

  • What content gap(s) do you plan to address?
    • People know that there is a water crisis, but I don't believe people know how bad it is. I do not even know how bad it is and how bad this water scarcity issue could become. We take water for granted. We don't have a second thought when we use our water to wash our cars, water our lawns, or even take nice warm showers. We need to be alert about our water usage and how precious water is. Most of us are fortunate to have access to the substance that every life form needs to have. I would like to inform those who read the water scarcity article, that we should preserve what we have an become resourceful and help those who are less fortunate even in our own country, that way we can help more people in our community.
  • What are the key points information you want to look for in your research?
    • They key points of information I want to look for in my research, are the causes of water scarcity, why some communities are able to have water while others cannot, how can we improve water distribution and how can we obtain freshwater from other sources.
  • How do you plan to improve this article?
    • This article has some good development. I want to help clean up any misinformation found in the article (anything mischievous). I also would like to add as many contributions as I can. This wiki page does have a lot of references so I would imagine it would be quite hard to add new information.. Luckily, everyday there is the possibility that a new report or research paper is published that can add on to the information in this article. To go along with that promise, I would like to view and check all the links in the article to make sure none of the information is outdated or currently not working.
  • Look at the article's talk page. How can the conversations on the talk page inform your contribution?
    • From what I read on the talk page, there have been a revision of the article. Some of the main changes stated in the talk page were from students like me who wanted to edit the article for their course. These changes were made back in 2013, so I assume most of the information could be outdated. There have been attempts to add new information, but it looks like some of it has been deleted from the main article. There were some talks about how to help with the article like adding hyperlinks (blue links). There were some people there who added plenty of information from other articles that "merged" together with the water scarcity article. This can be advantageous as I can, probably link information from other articles into this one
