NECRD (North East Centre for Research and Development)-is a new initiative of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)[1]for research and development. NECRD mainly promotes research and developmental activities in the North East India. The centre is responsible for organizing conferences/workshops, conduct research, and assist in outreach and dissemination of the activities of IGNOU in the region. It also collaborates with local policy, education and development centres, NGOs, other research organizations, Institutes and Universities for research and development. At present, the centre offers schemes such as Research and Teaching Assistantships and Major/Minor Research Projects which provides opportunities to researchers who would undertake advance studies and research and teaching on issues pertaining to the North East Region.
