Panachickad temple,popularly known as Dakshina Mookambika, is situated 12 km.away from Kottayam,kerala.This temple is famous as this is second of its kind after Kollur Mukambi with Goddess Saraswathy having been enshrined. Panachickad is a small village with full of greeneries and vegetations being blessed by Goddess Saraswathy. As saraswathy is considered as the Goddess of Education and arts, lots of devotees have been coming to this temple every year for performing the so called Vidyarambha - a holy auspicious ceremony of first learning being performed before The Goddess.During the Navarathri Festival season,so many celebrated artists form all over India come to this temple to perform their talents before the Devi or theGoddess.In addition to that,lots of new talents come to this temple to do their debut performances.Though Vijayadasami is the most auspicious and important day for Vidyarambha,devotees from all over the country keep coming to the temple through out the year except Durgashtami and Mahanavami to perform the Vidyarambha.One can get at this temple by getting off at Chaingavanam,a place lying between Kottayam and Changanacherry,and travel towards East for 4 kms.
