Grading
[edit]- You will work in teams of three students, as directed by your GTA. All members of the team will receive the same scores for the page
We strongly suggest that you divide up the labor as follows:
- One student becomes the wikipedia expert: learn about creating and editing a page, formatting for tables/figures/;
- One student becomes the research expert: track down resources and verify statements and decide on how to cite sources; and
- One students becomes the writing expert: create the actual written content and polish it for organization, flow, style, grammar and spelling.
Assignment 1 (Create an account and a sandbox): 5 pts are awarded for completing both these tasks; you should choose a name for your group, register the group on the main course page, and set up a sandbox.
Assignment 2 (Review 5 existing Wikipedia pages): You must first identify a topic you wish to write about. Up to 5 pts. will be awarded for topics that are well-defined and not currently available on Wikipedia. Then you must review 5 Wikipedia pages that have content related to your topic. Choose one of those pages to edit (2 pts for list of five pages; 8 pts for edits).
Assignment 3 (Set up a page with the topic): A maximum of 10 pts is available for setting up the page (2 pt), outlining the structure (3 pts) and identifying 5 key references.
Assignment 4 (Draft of page): This is worth 40 pts, which will be awarded based upon the actual content (25 pts), use of appropriate references (5 pts) and embedded hyperlinks (10 pts).
Assignment 5 (Second Draft of page, based upon Peer Reviews): A maximum of 30 pts will be given for revisions (20 pts), addition of 3 more references (6 pts) and 2 additional hyperlinks (4 pts).
