Racial Discrimination in Standardized Testing

Majority of k-12 schools in the United States use standardized testing to place students in certain schools and gifted or remedial classes. Standardized testing has shown discrimination against certain types of students among a variety of public schools. Tsnadardized testing also shows how the Unites States public school system is extremely unequal and flawed.

It has been shown that in schools in areas that are made up of mostly African American or Latino students seem to get less funding for their schools which creates an unequal learning environment for the students. Students in lower income areas that attend schools with a smaller budget don't have the same educational advantages as schools in higher income areas. When the same standardized test goes out to a variety of students who are taught unequally an advantage goes out to the students who who were in higher income areas at more prestigious school.

Another aspect of standardized testing that creates discrimination is that one can pay for classes to study to improve their SAT scores. This creates an unfair advantage to people who are better off.
