ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A POCKET FRIENDLY SNOW  TREKKING…

                                              By Arijit Mandal

We are really tired by our day to day stressful work. Its a real pleasure to make a holiday plan before going to a long holiday trip! Most importantly if you are planning to escape from the all noisy  polluted surroundings, then trekking will be the best option for you. It will give a scope to you to introduce yourself with the perfect lap of nature.

When its a question about trekking… there are plenty of trekking routes in india but if you planning for a pocket friendly snow trekking I will definitely suggest you the brahmatal trekking. its a moderate type of trekking just like kedarkanth, valley of flower, hampta pass. Its situated in the Uttarakhand.

We made it at the starting of February. usually December, January February ,march are the best time to go there.

Our journey started from the Dehradun. From Dehradun we made a 11 hours journey by car for lohajung; the base camp of brahmatal trekking.already we had met our expedition leader in Dehradun. The zigzag road was pretty awesome. Here we have our first night in hotel.

On day 2, we started our official journey for  Bekaltal. The entire route was through the forest. The all of the forest was covered by white glistening snow. surprisingly You can feel the pure silence of the nature.

Along with the sounds of falling leaves attach a special flavour to it.

After continuously 7 hours walking we reached the 2nd base camp of our trekking, bekaltal. The place was enough to forget our exhaustion all of the walking.

Next day we started our destination the Brahmatal through the snow covered forest.here we got a fine view of bekaltal lake.its totally covered by the thin layer of frozen crystal of ice. The crystal clear shadow of the pines was adding a picturesque beauty over the lake. Here take a look ….

While we are crossing the roof  top of the hill we got a fine demarcated horizon by the peak view.

The wind becomes more wild along with snow fall . the narrow line of waking was continuously guiding our path.

A major problem in snow trekking that there is always a chance of  loosening of proper direction. There is irregular heavy snowfall and the track always hidden under it. Its alway better to get in touch with Gide.

Near about continuous 8 hours walking we got our next camp site.it was a magnificent area under  the lap of a hill. We take the lunch here. The guide, Birendra was planning for a bonfire here. So, we got a camp side bonfire and whitish shadow of galaxy in night.

In this trek, the camp sides was  …just wow!!

The next day we started our journey for the summit and the brahamatal lake. After continuously 1 hours walking the frozen lake welcomes us and after 4 hours hill climbing we got our summit view. Then we just felt our spark of brahamatal trekking.

The path was moderately hard to climb up. But you will not regret after reaching the top. I can promise that.

Here your will face the real taste of trekking and mountain climbing. The wild wind was continuously challenging us. Here we got a fine view of  snow covered mountains, Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti

After taking the sunshine view of Himalayan range we came back in our camp for that day.

Next day  we take the path through the tilbudi and came back our base camp at lohajung!!!

All through the route we had covered nearly 30kms and hiked upto 12100 ft.

From deep and shadowy forests of oaks & rhododendrons to snow-covered meadows, lakeside camping at Bekaltal, the alpine Brahmatal lake vicinity, and a climactic vision of fabulous high peaks glittering across a brilliant sky!

Trough  the whole travel path we created a huge diary of memories and  lots of  snapshot of artistic nature . Here We got  fine snow fall, path through forest, up and down frozen path, frozen voice of glacier, calls of mountain, the  nights  with bonfire  and under shiny galaxy ,…most importantly the good accompany with lots of new friends.

If you are a  trekking finder then definitely I will suggest you to take a look of this trek.

The key points of this trekking…

  1. Its a snow trek. So make sure to take worm clothes sufficiently, minimum 5 layers.
  2. Water proof trekking shoe is must.
  3. A walking stick will help you from slipping.
  4. Make your self hydrated sufficiently. In snow trekking most of the people face dehydration.
  5. Make sure to take a inhaler. You may face respiratory distress at this height.

6. Take a doctors advice if you have any specific health problem.
