MOHSIN KHAN (Urdu: محسن خان; born 9 july 1962, Malihabad, Uttar Pradesh) is an Indian short story writer, novelist and translator whose short story Zohra[1] is considered both in India and in Pakistan as a masterpiece of fiction by both writers and critics of Urdu and Hindi literature. His debut novel Allah Miyan Ka Karkhana (Almighty's Strange Workshop) has both impressed the readers and critics.[2]

[3] His Urdu play Khvab ki Ta'bir was awarded first prize[4] in a radio-play contest drawing participants from nineteen Indian languages. In 2010-2011 the annual awards constituted by the U P State Urdu Academy awarded him Rs 1 lakh for his contribution to children's literature and drama.[5]

Career in Journalism[edit]

After Working as Sub-editor of the Urdu Daily Azaem (Lucknow) from 27-07-1988 to 19-10-1990 he began working as an honorary editor of Urdu monthly Hareem, in Lucknow. from Oct. 1990 to 1993. He also worked as a news writer and News Translator in Doordarshan Kendra, Lucknow.

He works as a broadcaster of Stories and talks on Akashvani, Lucknow and New Delhi. During this time he was also called for literary discussions on radio and T.V. At this point in his career he assumed the responsibility for writing Radio and T.V. Plays for Akashvani and Doordarshan.

Short stories and dramas[edit]

Khan had produced about 100 Short Stories and Dramas published in several Journals, some of which have been translated into English, Hindi and kannada.

Received ‘Shaan-e-awadh’ (The pride of Lucknow) award by U.P. Journalists association. (2013-14)

Received ‘Musannifeen-e- Awadh’ (Authors of Lucknow) award by Salam Lucknow (2012-13)
