4 sources for Wikipedia article:

[edit]

1. YouTube, is normally where the most watched videos, challenges, pictures, and many more things gain popularity. For example, a internet phenomena could be JiffPom, is a tiny, and cute Pomeranian that does tricks, and "cute things" in general and has won the hearts of millions of people. This little adorable Pomeranian is literally popular because he is cute. This Pomeranian goes to red carpet events, and also has meet ups with his fans.Youtube is a great source to see what is popular and where did it begin from. Normally on YouTube's homepage, you will be able to find the most popular videos with the most views, likes and etc. Another interesting thing is that most well-known YouTuber's who make videos or blogs on a daily basis can be a good resource to know what is happening around the world, because they are up to date with this internet world.

2. Buzzfeed, is also a good source because this site has all of the new "buzz". Buzzfeed has the latest news of things happening around the world ranging from disease awareness, the Pope, to celebrities.

3. Life News, is a national journal site. The categories for this journal include National, State, Bioethics, and Opinion, this site is more strict with its contents. By strict, I mean that there won't be anything on what Kylie Jenner is upto, or why Jiff the Pom is so loved. This site has more serious issues, that touch the hearts of people. While browsing YouTube another source that I have listed, I came across a video which went viral in a day of a 92 year-old man singing to his dying wife the song which they used to sing together. After looking on YouTube, I found the article which was linked to Life News.

4. Variety.com, this is an online magazine which has all of the latest news and updates on film, TV, digital, Contenders, Dirt, Jobs and many other categories. Just by scrolling through this site I found many topics related to Internet Phenomena and those topics were linked to a Instagram or Facebook page.

List Of Internet Phenomena 10/13/15

This is my groups topic, and after going through the page and the different phenomenas i came to realize there are some major ones missing. The citations are from youtube or some other sources which are not the best sources, but nonetheless they are still sources. Most internet Phenomena gains popularity on YouTube or video streams before making it out to journals or online magazines. I also noticed that when a phenomena is mentioned, there are only a sentence or two summarizing the phenomena. So it is a challenge to describe these phenomenas within two sentences. A few Phenomenas my group discussed on trying to add in there were JiffPom ( literally just a pomeranian who is super cute and all celebrities love him) , Kylie Jenner lip challenge( self- explanatory) , Bean Boozled Challenge (the good jelly beans vs. the bad ones.. and you see your partners faces). I found it easy to find these phenomenas on YouTube and most of the time the Videos can be tracked down to a source for a journal, newspaper, or online magazine. Maybe one thing to keep in mind is if the Phenomena was already mentioned, since there are so many listed it can be easy to overlook a few. Ashleenr (talk) 04:18, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
