Introduction

Dr Robbie Hughes is a UK cosmetic dentist who has graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2008 with honours for distinction grades. Dr Hughes is the owner of Dental Excellence practice, Avant Garde academy and Millionaire Smile whitening products.

Dr Robbie Hughes a master’s degree in restorative dentistry and post-grad diplomas in implantology from Warwick University. He is specialized in digital smile design and makeovers using composite bonding techniques.

Early Life

Dr Hughes didn’t start off with cosmetic dentistry straight away, he began with mixed dentistry focusing on white fillings, crowns, bridges. He then moved onto simple orthodontics and bonding and finally smile makeovers; this transition took place over 10 years.

Dr Hughes spent his first year doing vocational training supported by the Mersey Deanery which is part of the NHS. After training, he continued his career as a part time general dental practitioner with a dental practice in the Wirral, with the other half of his time spent with another dental practice in Crosby, which offered him an opportunity and an insight to develop and improve his cosmetic and restorative dentistry skills.

Dental Excellence

In 2010, Dr Hughes decided to work part-time in the Dental Excellence practice in Allerton which was set-up in 2007 alongside his work as a GDP at a dental practice in Crosby. His involvement with Dental Excellence led him to become a clinical partner. In 2012, he bought out the practice and took over running the business completely where he’s turned it from a simple dental practice to a smile makeover centre. Dr Hughes had a business plan when he took control over the practice, where he wanted to combine digital dentistry with a luxury bespoke facility, which has led to a 50% increase in the number of patients since 2012.

The focus of Dr Hughes at Dental Excellence was on advanced dental work, implants and smile makeovers, where a bespoke service was provided to ensure patient satisfaction, the treatments also come with a long-term maintenance plan. Dr Hughes aims for his treatments to be non-invasive, where he avoids the use of the drill and the needs when appropriate. Dr Hughes uses alternative techniques to sedation where he converges in a half-an-hour conversation with his more nervous patients to put them at ease. Dental Excellence has its own on-sight laboratory and a team of dental experts which are fully comprehensive covering all different areas of dentistry.

Relationship with Liverpool FC

During his time at Dental Excellence Dr Robbie Hughes has worked with a lot of celebrities, including Liverpool FC Manager Jurgen Klopp and various Liverpool FC players such as Lucas Leiva, Roberto Firminho, Phillipe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Martin Skrtel, Mario Balotelli and other athletes such as the UFC fighter Darren Till.

Millionaire Smile

Dr Hughes has founded Millionaire Smile, which is a dental beauty brand based in the UK, specializing in over-the-counter tooth whitening products with extra health benefits. The brand has been developed by dentists, it is 100% cruelty free and never tested on animals, in addition to it being 100% vegan friendly. The ingredient used (PAP) is based on progressive dental science, it is a highly effective whitening enzyme which removes both surface and internal staining simultaneously, without the use of peroxide, meaning there will be a reduced tooth sensitivity after use.

Avant Garde

Avant Garde is Dr Hughes’ own personal academy; it was created in 2019 with the aim to help clinics meet the continuously growing demand for cosmetic treatment and experiences. It is led by professionals who are the forefront of cosmetic dentistry in the UK and Ireland. Avant Garde Dentistry is a concept for dentists and dental practices specialising in training and education for dentists who want to fast-track Dr Hughes’ 10 year experience in 2 or maybe 3 years, it is based on the endless questions Dr Hughes gets about himself and his journey. Avant Garde also offers business consultancy where they look at a business and a personal brand and help it grow and develop.
