Snowfall in New York City
[edit]1.8 million per inch. That is how much, on average it costs to move just an inch of snowfall in the Big apple. So how big is the apple really? once it is all said and done NYC itself is the second most densely populated place in america and its most highly populated city . It sure is is packed. On top of being packed to the brim with people from all walks of life the city is so far north and on the coast, it actually snows a remarkable amount here compared to other cities on the eastern seaboard of the united states. Long story short it snows! If you are a New York native you either love this fact or you didn't move there for the weather. With a growing housing market and population one must ask themselves how can any place afford to keep such a large and densely populated area clean. Its not easy. It costs millions on billions of dollars more then any other city in the United States of America.(possibly the world).
For instance, As of 12:07 a.m. Sunday, Central Park had 26.8 inches of snowfall, making it the second largest recorded snowstorm in New York City. The amount narrowly missed tying the previous all-time record of 26.9 inches which was set from the storm of Feb. 11-12, 2006.Therefore, on January 23 of 2016 26.9 inches of snow fell onto Central park. Located in Manhattan(a highly dense area) For every one inch it cost on average, over the last few decades, 1.8 million per inch.
You do the math! I'll wait...... Yeah and that's just one day. on average the yearly snowfall in New York City is substantially higher. check out this graph!
