Atif M Memon is an American computer scientist who, since Jan 2018, has been at Apple as Head of Test Strategy. Previously he served as a tenured Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, College Park. During his tenure at the University, he conducted applied research in Software Engineering, focusing in developing practical tools for practitioners in Industry. His work on software testing, test automation, flaky tests, and large-scale test infrastructures has been featured at various venues, and published in more than 150 peer-reviewed papers.

His area of research and development continues to be software testing, with focus on large-scale testing. Today's enormous code churn rates raise multiple issues for optimizing the large-scale testing process, including but not limited to developing effective test cases that deliver the most bang for the buck; reducing flaky tests that raise false alarms and lead to manual examination of test results; prioritizing test cases so that most important ones are run first, leading to quick fixing of defects; reducing the overall test space so that test suites can be run quickly and focus on the latest software changes.
