Guimbi Ouattara

Princess Guimbi Ouattara also known as Guimbé was born in 1836-1919. Her country was Ouattara in Bobo- Dioulasso which her father, Bakom was the king. By the time she was 15, she had been married three times but eventually became a widow in all 3 marriages. Princess Guimbi stopped a king from Guinea named Samori Ture from destroying her kingdom by showering him with gifts and giving him a magic potion to drink.[1] Then both the princess and Ture worked together to put a stop to Tièfo, a french colony from destroying them both. Till this day Ouattara is a very well known woman in Bobo- Dioulasso and you learn about her in museum in her country.

Samori Ture, the ruthless king from Guinea came to destroy Guimbi and her kingdom because they were Ouattara. Which his french enemy Tièfo is from. Tièfo was a Ouattara also, but him and his kingdom separated themselves from Guimbé and her people because of the religious difference they had.[2] So from stopping Ture from destroying her kingdom. She came to him and brought him loads of presents and made him what they called a magic potion which was in the milk he had drank from.[3] By offering these wonderful gifts, they talked about peace and how they need to rid of their common enemy which was the Tièfo people. This is the huge reason why Guimbi was an important figure in Bobo because she the kingdom from being destroyed from Samori Ture and his kingdom.
