Article Evaluation

[edit]

The article Mass media is good overall. The only drawback is it can add more pictures. Now there are too much texts without pictures, it seems not interesting. If it is me, I will find more pictures to make the whole article more attractive. In addition, I feel that the last sentence of the introductory paragraph at the beginning is superfluous. Everyone should naturally know that organizations are also parts of mass media. I will remove this sentence.

Topics

Final Topic

Talk:Travel documentary I want to choose that topic because I think this topic is really interesting. For traveling lover, travel documentary can give a lot of help. In addition, travel documentaries often have relaxed landscapes and are informative and enjoyable. So I believe this is a very useful topic for everyone.

First Draft

[edit]

Travel documentary content is often organized around tourist attractions. The documentary film makers will go to various countries presented as being worth a visit. The documentary introduces the scenery, local cuisine and a variety of specialty foods and crafts.

Some documentaries will have a host to guide the viewer. There are also some documentaries that focus on scenery and local characteristics only, and will not have a host. This type of documentary is often intended to mobilize the audience's enthusiasm for tourism as its primary purpose. Some tourist attractions have soared in popularity due to travel documentaries.

There are many excellent travel documentations worth recommending [encyclopedia's don't make recommendations, change this to just be examples], such as Stephen Fry in AmericaAround the World in 80 Treasures and Lonely Planet Roads Less Travelled Season 1

Good travel documentaries make people feel happy and then have the desire to explore the world [citation needed]. Many people use travel documentaries to choose their own travel destination, a documentary will allow viewers to decide whether or not to go to this place. Often travel documentaries are very important to a tourist attraction. Some tourist attractions have invited travel documentary directors to help them make the appropriate film for their attraction.

My Edits

Travel documentary is a kind of documentary. Travel documentaries generally tell stories about travel or introduce travel destinations. In general, there will be a leading figure in the documentary. This figure will lead the audience to play and introduce the audience to the local cultural landscape, food and customs. From these documentaries, viewers can understand where these places are worth playing and eating.

It takes a lot of energy to shoot a travel documentary. There are many things to worry about. The production process of travel documentaries is very complicated. First, the director needs to place a large number of staff and allocate all the equipment. In addition, they have to be responsible for formulating travel plans. They also need to book hotels and foods in advance. And they may have to prepare for many unexpected situations.

The documentary filming method is different from many other films. In the process of documentary filming, it is often necessary to interview other people. So the quality of the interview is very important for the documentary. In addition, the details of the documentary are also very important.Take tourism documentaries as an example. Only by making every appealing place in the tourist destination clear, can we attract more people to travel there. There are also some questions about the shooting angle. Because documentaries have a higher requirement for authenticity, they must have the most reasonable shooting angle.

In the opinion of director Lydia B. Smith, the most valuable part of the travel documentary encourages people to walk out of the comfort zone and into the world, to experience a variety of different cultures and to further enhance themselves. In addition, he also believes that his people should understand how people in other countries think of their own country. This is the significance of travel documentary.

How can such a complicated and tedious process be always interested in shooting travel documentaries? Lydia gave his own answer: “Only do it if you are 100% passionate about your subject matter and that it will fuel you as well during the process.”[1]

Aurora's Peer Review

Aurora, I am wondering which section you are making a contribution to, is it documentary content? I agree with the statements that you make overall, and I so think this is a very fun topic that needs more content in some of it's sections. However, you need more sources and in-text citations to back up some of the statement's you are making as well as a references section. Some statements almost feel like quotes from other sources, if they are, you need to quote them and properly cite the authors. I fixed wording in one or two sentences as well. Overall your sentences are good, but they feel very repetitive like "The documentary this" or "some documentaries that," it would read better and feel more interesting and less bland if you changed some of your sentences structures and how you start some sentences. In the first paragraph when you mention what the documentaries introduce, it feels like you are making a statement that all documentaries do this, so I would give a specific example of what a source might call a "generic" or "typical" documentary so that you are not including personal research. Overall I think more examples and references would strengthen your additions to this article.

Lastly, I am wondering what {EMT comments in brackets} means, is it a part of your addition to the article?

Respond Thank you for evaluate! I'm focus on documentary content. The text description is indeed the place I am lacking now. I will try to find more documents and information to expand my topic. In addition,{EMT comments in brackets}is not a part of my article. This is a mistake. Thank you for pointing it out!

Hi Aurora, I think it is a great topic of media, and you explain what is travel documentary. Can you add some other types of the documentary? I think if add some ways or some new technology of making documentary would make the article more interesting. At the same time, you should find more materials to support your opinion which make your article to be stronger. You can analysis the most famous type of documentary in this year and to analyze why audience like this kind of documentary. Moreover, you also can compare the difference between the documentary and other movies, why the documentary is fascinating. It is a good start.

Respond Thank you for these great suggestions! This sounds really interesting and will add more content to my article. I will try to find more information!

Hi Aurora! Overall I think you did a god job. I would be careful to not use the generalization/big sweeping statements like "Good travel documentaries make people feel happy". Instead I would try to research of find some data on why this is the case as well as add more evidence as to what the result of travel documentaries are. Or, go more into detail about the shows and what they are doing if they have not already been discussed in the article. Finally, I would say avoid redundant sentences.

Respond Thanks for your advice! I realized that the repetition of language is a big problem for me and I will improve it. In addition, I will look for more data to add more persuasiveness to my articles.
