This is a good article that can tie into communication in society because it allowed us to communicate in a different way through a form of music that people haven't really seen before.:

Jimi Hendrix

This article talks about Jimi Hendrix, a very influential guitarist in the 1960's. This article goes over his childhood, his military service, his career and how he found success in the UK as an elite guitarist. It also talks about his equipment, drug abuse problems, and death/legacy. I believe this relates to communication because Jimi Hendrix was a pioneer when it came to a different form of a form of communication in society, and shifted the way rock music sounds to date. :

This articles talks about what singing is, what exactly our voices are, the study of various techniques people use to manipulate the way that we sing, as well as examples of various vocal music, and the tie between language and singing. I chose this article because singing is an example of art in an oral manner. It is simply saying words or conveying ideas/emotions in a specific way to invoke a feeling in someone.

Poetry

This article talks about poetry in many ways, but the main way I want to look at it is about the history of poetry, and how it was an oral art-form that allowed for early civilizations to use the words that they were given, and use them in a way that would paint a picture in someone's mind. This related to oral communication because the poetry could be passed on orally, and in some early civilizations such as Greece the poetry was even sang in a melodic way which relates back to the singing article. :

Hymn

This article talks about Hymns in different cultures as well as their significance when it comes to religion. I chose this article because when it comes to orality and music hymns allows for not only the increase in belief and unity between people who follow a religion, but also allowed for more of a spread in religion, especially for cultures such as Greece who most of the telling of their religion were passed down in an oral manner. :
