Alem Begic (*March 7th, 1987 in Munich, Germany) is a German professional boxer. Currently he holds the IBO International light heavyweight title. He is also the IBF European champion in the same weight division.

Beginnings as a kickboxer and amateur boxer (2002 to 2014)

In 2002 Alem Begic began his boxing career as a kickboxer at Stekos sportcentre in Munich, Germany.Alltogether he had 15 kickboxing fights within two years. In 2004 he started with amateur boxing. Amongst others he fought with Enrico Köllig (participant of the 2012 Olympics and holder of the WBA Intercontinental light heavyweight title) and Dzemal Bosnjak (multiple Bosnian champion and participant of the world series of boxing). He fought for the clubs TSV 1860 Munich, BSK Seelze and BK Radnik Bijeljina (Premier League Bosnia and Hercegovina). At national and international contests he had 102 fights of which he won 84 (2 ended in a tie).

Career as a professional boxer (since 2014)

At age 27 Alem Begic began his professional boxing career. On November 22nd, 2014 he won over Stelian Anghelus Voicu in Srebrenica, Bosnia.[1] In Dortmund, Germany, he won over Ukrainian athlete Artem Redko although having an influenza. In June 2018 he won over Serbian athlete Nenad Stankovic by technical knockout and thus the IBF European light heavyweight championship. After a controversial tie in the fight for the WBO intercontinental super middleweight title, Begic won over US-American boxer John Rene on December 10th, 2019, and is thus holding the IBF International light heavyweight championship. His first international title is the greatest success of his career so far. Alem Begic is currently among the 15 best light heavyweight boxers of the world. The IBF title fight took place at the Bio-Hotel Stanglwirt in Kitzbühel, where the Klitschko-Brothers also prepared for their fights, and was organised as part of a charity event. 20.000 € were donated to the „Kleine Helden e.V./ Tribute to Bambi Stiftung“. Among his sparring partners are multiple world champions Gennadi Golowkin, Oleksander Usyk, Felix Sturm and Arthur Abraham. Begic remains undefeated with 24 wins.[2]
