Bobby Kidd - Singer / Songwriter - Genre: Pop/Rock
[edit]Bio
[edit]From the age of 12 I decided it would be a great idea to learn to play the piano. To this day it's still a mystery as to where this came from, as no one in the history of my family was musical.
After years of piano lessons I was ready to take on my first rock band in high school. This experience aroused my curiosity about the whole process of music production. So when the time came to do Work Experience I figured what better opportunity to get my hands dirty and see first hand how the pro's got from point A to point B.
It all started in a local studio in Wollongong, a town just south of Sydney. It was this environment and the love for music that inspired me to sing, write songs and learn a number of instruments which included guitar, piano, drums and many more.
At the innocent age of 21 I auditioned as a Keyboard Player and Backing Vocalist for a rock outfit called "The Love Vandals" who went on to become known as "World Star". After 2 years of solid gigging around Sydney and the Illawarra we'd gathered enough money to record our first album - which attracted management - which in turn led to being featured on a Compilation CD of up and coming artists for a UK magazine called "Frontier". The band (World Star) enjoyed commercial airplay both locally and across the UK and Europe.
It was at this point I first picked up the guitar. It felt so natural, I decided it was time to branch out and go it alone as a Solo Artist.
Bobby Kidd was born.
With the knowledge and experience I obtained from my days working in the recording studio, I decided to turn my passion for music into reality and bought myself some home recording gear and got down to the business of writing and demoing. (Fun times!!) Some of my earlier works were picked up by 2 local FM Stations and were rotated on the "HOT 30 Countdown".
2002 saw me enter what was then a local competition called Musicoz. Musicoz is a national initiative dedicated to seeking out, recognizing and encouraging the talents of unsigned and independent artists. I entered an acoustic version of one of my songs and got into the top 5 of the country category. Although I wasn't a country artist, being acoustic, the song worked well. Needless to say this led to the opportunity for me to perform at the annual Country Music Festival in Tamworth NSW. My performances during that week were so well received that I was invited back the following year.
It was also at Tamworth that I first met one of my co-writing partners. It was the start of something wonderful. We become very prolific and got together as often as possible. It was around this time that I met the DNA boys, who were up and coming producers/songwriters. In 2005 I recorded 3 songs with the guys which got the attention of industry figures and also gained another top 5 nomination in the ever growing National Musicoz competition.
In 2006 I co-wrote and recorded 2 more songs with the DNA boys. I entered the songs into a national competition called New Artist 2 Radio (NA2R), an initiative co-ordinated by Commercial Radio Australia. I became a top 4 finalist, which led to the opportunity for me to showcase my songs at Luna Park in Sydney in front of 850 radio and industry execs.
That year I decided to pack up all of my belongings and trek south to Melbourne. Whilst Sydney had been a great proving ground for me, Melbourne offered a far more diverse live scene. The next year and a half saw me doing solo acoustic shows, writing many more songs and attracting a solid loyal fan base in Melbourne, Sydney and abroad.
Toward the end of 2007 I started writing some new songs, some of which went on to become the tracks on my debut EP: titled "Breaking Me Down". In early 2008 I flew back to Sydney to work with a new producer/songwriter, Lindsay Rimes. We spent the better part of 3 long weeks recording the EP. I was determined to release a record that was entirely "me" and not what someone else thought I should be.
Enough said, so sit back and enjoy the music that is Bobby Kidd!!
P.S. see you on the road...............bk

Breaking me Down – EP Version

Chorus It breaks me down All this time we're wasting Feels like we're fading Turn it ’round It’s all we ever wanted All I ever needed It’s breaking me, breaking me down Verse 2 It seems like forever, Whenever its just you and I Why does it feel like, The real world is passing us by You know I want it, know I need it Can’t you see it, in my eyes And I can’t take it, I wont fake it And I wont live in disguise I’m falling for the last time Chorus It breaks me down All this time we're wasting Feels like we're fading Turn it ’round It’s all we ever wanted All I ever needed It’s Breaking me, Breaking me down
