I'm a 53-year-old ex-pat American who's worked in Germany for the past thirteen years as an editor and translator. I mostly revise material by foreign academics for publication in anglophone journals and translate from German into English. Before going abroad, I did technical and legal writing and editing. I studied philosophy at Reed College and the University of California at San Diego, and it remains my chief pursuit.
