Bernd Baumgartl PhD Based in Vienna, Austria, he is the executive of Navreme Knowledge Development (research and consulting), M.A. in history (Salzburg), and a PhD in Political and Social Sciences (EUI Firenze). Member of CERN (the Capitalisation and Evaluation Research Network set up under the Leonardo programme), and of the Pragmatic Network of Individual European Evaluators, active under DG EAC. Co-ordinator of EURONE&T, a Thematic Network set up under the EU Research Framework Programme 5 (on education policy in the EU vis-à-vis integration and enlargement). Has worked as an EU official (dealing with the accession of Central and Eastern Europe), and as a researcher and author at the European University Institute (on environmental issues, and xenophobia/racism in Europe). Visiting scholar at LSE and MIT. Long-term experience in South-East Europe, and issues like education policy, public administration reform, ethnic conflicts, conflict resolution or reconciliation. Visiting Professor at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, the Central European University in Budapest, the ILO Training Centre in Torino, the European University for Peace Studies in Schlaining. Recent training, consulting and evaluation assignments for the European Commission, Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, World Bank, Stability Pact for SEE, and Council of Europe. Most recent assignments concern the development of a M&E system for a major World Bank education project in Macedonia, and the evaluation on behalf of DG RTD of the INTAS programme on scientific cooperaiton between the EU and the CIS.
