"Bouexic" comes from Luc Urbain de Bouexic, comte de Guichen, a leading French admiral during the American Revolutionary War (in which France helped the fledgling United States as revenge for its loss to the English in the Seven Years War). "La Royale" is what the French Navy is affectionally called (its official title in present times is Marine Nationale), probably because it has always been closely linked to the monarchy.
