A board member of Wikimedia Bangladesh was removed, and his administrator privileges on the wiki revoked, after allegations of undisclosed paid editing made on the Wikimedia Bangladesh mailing list proved to be true.

The board member applied for and received government funds in the 2015-16 fiscal year as shown in government documents, and again in the 2016-17 fiscal year. Funding was allotted by ICT Department, Government of Bangladesh, for documentation of those who have received national awards of varied forms (Filmfare award, gallantry awards and esp. Mukhtijoddha Award) along with adding information about different districts over bn.wiki.

It turned out that the editor, in addition to violating the global TOU, had often copied the biographical details from a reputable newspaper and used copyrighted images.

The editor was also indefinitely blocked on en.wiki for undisclosed paid editing, after an ANI discussion.
