The neighborhood was long regarded as part of Stratton Mountain, but has lost its recognizable rural character in recent months because of rapidly rising influx of “Covid Refugees” as highlighted by the New York Times [1] on September 26, 2020and rising property[2] values Known for its Skiing and varying outdoor related activities and The BrewFest, dedicated to all the micro-breweries in Vermont, held in the neighborhood every year around Columbus Weekend, on Stratton Mtn.
In the middle half of 2020, the neighborhood saw an influx of yuppies and an explosion in hot tub installations and steady increase of Range Rovers And Beemers clogging its serene back-country roads. After unsuccessful tries to keep the invading hoard at bay, a new name for the area formerly know as Winhall and Bondville, came to be, for this newly overrun neighborhood. The name that stuck, as documented in an Facebook post on October 19, 2020, was NoWest, an abbreviation for North of Westchester. This name follows the portmanteau pattern started by SoHo (South of Houston Street) and TriBeCa (Triangle Below Canal Street).
