The Rick Hansen Foundation is a charitable organization based in Richmond, British Columbia dedicated to funding and supporting programs related to spinal cord injury and other similar disabilities. Such programs involve spinal cord research, adaptive sports and quality of life.
History
[edit]The Foundation was founded at the conclusion of Rick Hansen's Man in Motion World Tour, and was originally known as the Rick Hansen Man in Motion Legacy Fund at its establishment in 1988. It acquired charity status in 1989 and was renamed to Rick Hansen Man in Motion Foundation in 1992. It adopted its current name in 2009.
