Emilia Garito (City, X January XXXX) is an Italian engineer and computer scientist, specialized in System Dynamics, an approach to understanding the nonlinear behavior of complex systems. She is an Italian information technologist and Tech Transfer Advisor, founding partner and CEO of Quantum Leap IP, a leading Italian company in Technology Transfer and Open Innovation. She brought her experience gained as an Innovation Expert for the European Commission's Research Executive Agency in the evaluation of Horizon 2020 projects on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. As Ambassador in the international competition IBM Watson and ANA Avatar XPRIZE, she leads the AI and the AVATAR Technology as a future technical impact achieved, in respect of the ethical implication of the use of exponential technologies. A member of AgiD’s (Agenzia per l’Italia Digitale) AI Task Force team, where she worked on creating the first Italian white paper on AI and she is an Advisor in the evaluation and due diligence of several innovative start-ups, in many tech fields, on behalf of important VC, private investors, companies and public funds, as Finpiemonte is for the Piedmont Region, she is the TEDx Italian Ambassador and, since 8 years, she is curator and organizer of TEDxRoma, one of the most popular TEDx conference in the world organized under TED license.. She was Co-Founder of 10 Volte Meglio, a liberal political group, and she is founder of the Think Tank REFUTUREIT, the first neutral and no-partisan think tank founded from TEDx organizers regarding the future of Italy in 2030. Since 2017 she is included in the list of 150 scientists, entrepreneurs, and "women of innovation" in Italy, by the specialized magazine Startup Italia!. She is currently enrolled in an executive master's degree in Leading Innovation at Stanford University "Standford LEAD" which began in 2020 and lasts one academic year.

Biography and Career[edit]

She was born in Calabria, southern Italy, and during the school period, until the last years of classical high school, she studied and deepened subjects such as philosophy, mathematics, and physics. In 1999 she graduated in Software Engineering at the Sapienza University of Rome and specialized in System Dynamics (modeling of complex systems). In XXXX she deepened the subject in a didactic way at the same La Sapienza University, through lectures given for a whole semester to the students of the Systems Theory course, graduating in Computer Engineering. In 2000, she started working in a medium-sized partner company of HP, for which she developed a new internal business process, optimizing the work phases with respect to the new technological standards and the emerging growth needs of the company structure. During the same year, she joined the world of Finmeccanica (currently called Leonardo Finmeccanica Group), an Italian multinational specialized in Aerospace technologies, Defence and Security, where in 2006 she became the creator and co-founder of Project Finance Ingegneria Srl., developing expertise in business development strategies, business planning, and management. For the four-year period, until 2010, she was involved in the management of an innovative way of conceiving for the development of Business Plans, focusing her operation on projects for the Northern Italian area. In 2010 she founded one of the first Patent Brokers in Italy, Quantum Leap IP, able to help the research field, especially corporate, in the process of enhancing intellectual technology. The goal is to create a bridge between Technology Transfer and Open Innovation consulting, aimed at building an innovative service for industries of different strategic sectors for Italian technological development. In the last ten years, she has been CEO of Quantum Leap IP and has been an advisor to important companies such as the Danieli Group, Ferrovie Dello Stato Italiane, Leonardo Group, Accenture, creating innovative business models for several dozen technological Startup companies and has designed and developed training courses based on innovative methodologies and its own original content. Quantum Leap IP is a partner of important consulting companies including E&Y. It also invests its research in the identification of a new Digital Business Model, the New Trends Domains, which involve the digital and e-commerce sector, creating a first and unique worldwide business model. She is a member of the East Coast of the United States's, the Tech Coast Angel, a group of angel investors, and supports innovative Start-Ups. Emilia Garito is a mentor and speaker at several conferences in the innovation sector, in subjects such as Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and in the field of Technology Transfer and Open Innovation. She has not only focused her attention on engineering but also studied Philosophy in order to reconcile the ethical aspect of innovation. Despite the countless job offers received from abroad, he works and lives in Italy, prioritizing his private life and the strong bond for his family. Emilia Garito lives in Rome, wife of Massimo Sterpi, and mother of two daughters.[1]
