Questions

[edit]

When thinking about the adminship process, what are your thoughts and opinions about the following areas:

  1. Candidate selection (inviting someone to stand as a candidate)

Diversity is a good thing. A lot of perspectives are essential.

  1. Administrator coaching (either formally or informally)

It is essential to learn from one another.

  1. Nomination, co-nomination and self-nomination (introducing the candidate)

You want self-starters, and you want to recognize talent. Both are admirable.

  1. Advertising and canvassing

Identifies self-starters and interested parties. From there you can obtain good candidates.

  1. Debate (Presenting questions to the candidate)

If you identify the ideal candidates, then you gain insight from responses; they help you decide whether someone has those qualities you seek.

  1. Election (including providing reasons for support/oppose)

Logical reasons for identifying candidates are important.

  1. Withdrawal (the candidate withdrawing from the process)

This happens when it is not a good match for some reason.

  1. Declaration (the bureaucrat closing the application. Also includes WP:NOTNOW closes)

This is part of the process.

  1. Training (use of New Admin School, other post-election training)

It is essential to be trained, to have mentors. Otherwise how can we function, and expect there to be standards?

  1. Recall (the Administrators Open to Recall process)

Checks and balances are part of life processes and viable systems of all types.

Someone who is of service.
