History
[edit]Grayscale was created in September 2013 to manage the Bitcoin Investment Trust,[2][3][4] the first U.S.-based private investment vehicle that provides direct exposure to bitcoin through the purchase of a security.[15]
Grayscale Bitcoin Investment Trust offered the first publicly quoted securities solely invested in, and deriving value from, the price of bitcoin when it debuted on OTCQX in 2015.[16]
After launching on OTCQX, Grayscale launched eight additional single-asset investment products for digital currencies and its first diversified investment product, the Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund, over the next 18 months.[17]
