The Montessori School of Raleigh

[edit]

The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) is the Triangle’s modern embodiment and mindful practice of the time-proven Montessori philosophy. At the core of the Montessori approach is the now research and time proven belief that the most memorable and meaningful learning happens when your student (and their questions, interests, and experiences) are at the center of a complete and balanced education. It’s known among 21st century educators as “student-directed learning.” The reliable result: MSR students become ever more agile thinkers, poised communicators, and gracious collaborators—engineers of authentic and fulfilling lives.

Campus

[edit]

Our school lives at two locations in the Triangle area: our Lead Mine Campus in Raleigh for Early Learning (18 months - age 5) and Elementary School (grades 1-6) and our Brier Creek Campus in Durham County for Middle (grade 7 & 8) and Upper School (grades 9-12).

Both are intentionally designed to meet the needs of students at their particular developmental stages. For our younger learners, our village-like Lead Mine Campus, situated on 10 acres in North Raleigh, provides welcoming, child-sized spaces—orderly, nurturing, sheltered, and safe—designed to broaden their worlds every day with a rich array of new experiences that intrigue and expand their curious minds. Our Brier Creek Campus, situated on 40 acres in rural Durham County, helps our students take the next step toward independence. During this stage of adolescent growth and change, we give students the space they need—literally. On these 40 acres, we surround them with care, support, and the freedom to be themselves, ask tough questions, express their interests, and find answers to life’s most critical questions: “Who am I?” and “Who do I want to become?”

On both our campuses, we seek to prepare the best possible environments for your student to think, wonder, explore, analyze, express, and exercise her mind and body. Everywhere you look, everything you see should send the same clear, welcoming message: this is a place intentionally and intelligently made for learning.
